It may not be as big as those giant Comic-Con events in major cities. But the June 29 Infinity Con show in Tallahassee seemed every bit as much fun for lovers of fantasy characters and weird costumes.

Among the dozens of exhibitors at the Civic Center, decked out in full Klingon battle dress, was "Admiral Maharg." His real name is Richard Graham. He heads the Capital City's U.S.S. Khai Tam group, which is part of a larger regional coalition of Star Trek fans.

“It’s one of those things where you can grow old, but never grow up!” he laughed.

Then there was Tallahassee artist Daniel Hooker who can portray anyone as a super hero.

“I do lots of original characters,” he explained. “I can also do lots of fan art for people who are looking for specific characters. I can do it all!”

And who do clients most often want to look like?

“You see a lot of Batman and Spiderman,” he acknowledged. “But I mostly get original characters. People like to come up with their own thing.”

And indeed, many hundreds of exotically attired folks were happily doing their own thing at Saturday's Infinity Con.
