With the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season fast approaching it’s time for people to start preparing. While we had a mild season here in southwest Florida last year, the year before Hurricane Irma reminded southwest Floridians the need to properly prepare is very real. We're joined in studio by Jeff Huffman, Director of the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

Jeff’s name is probably pretty familiar to many WGCU listeners, as he and his team spent hours on the air with us from their studio in Gainesville as we went through the landfall of Hurricane Irma, the biggest hurricane to hit Southwest Florida since 1960. He’s travelling around the state visiting member stations to get a sense of how they plan to handle the upcoming hurricane season with coverage and collaboration.
