Georgia's Governor Tells Residents Near The Coast To Evacuate

Gov. Brian Kemp's Facebook page
Ga. Gov. Brian Kemp told residents near the coast to evacuate on Monday.

The entire coast of Georgia remains inside the cone of uncertainty for Hurricane Dorian.

Governor Brian Kemp said Monday based on recommendations from federal, state and local sources he has declared a state of emergency in 12 counties and he’s asking residents near the coast to evacuate.

“Yesterday evening I issued an executive order requiring the mandatory evacuation of individuals east of I-95 in 6 counties. That started at noon today,” Kemp said.

Governor Kemp warned that anyone who decides not to evacuate will be on their own if first responders can’t reach them.
