According to the U.S. Department of Defense, about 1,300 military service members transition back into civilian life every day.  The reintegration process can come with serious challenges including post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health challenges, and a new Southwest Florida-based initiative called HeroSong, aims to help through the therapeutic power of music.

The non-profit organization records and produces original music composed and performed by veterans, active military members and first responders at no cost.  We’ll learn more about the organization from HeroSong co-founder and director Julian Sundby.  We’ll also hear from Combat MP and Iraq War veteran Adam Martin, who will perform live in studio!  Martin has recorded with HeroSong and performs his original southern rock music with the band “Blackbird Anthem.”
