High Line Documentary To Premiere At WJCT Studios

A fascinating new film celebrating the transformation of an abandoned railway on New York’s West Side into a stunning public park is coming to Jacksonville.

The daily activity of Manhattan's Meat-Packing District is woven into the lush greenery of the High Line’s southern end in this still from "Elevated Thinking: The High Line In New York City."

Narrated by Oscar winner Susan Sarandon, the documentary Elevated Thinking: The High Line in New York City details the remarkable efforts of a group of neighborhood activists, real estate developers, philanthropists and city officials and the architects, designers, and landscapers who created this incredible model of urban imagination.

The film screens Tuesday night at WJCT Studios in a special premiere event also sponsored by CSX Transportation. Jacksonville based CSX also contributed to the High Line project.

Elevated Thinking: The High Line in New York City screens June 17 at WJCT with a reception beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the screening and a panel discussion with Marc Doyle. The film premieres on WJCT-TV on Thursday, June 19 at 8 p.m.
