Self-driving cars used to be a thing of science fiction, but they’re quickly becoming a reality. Different manufacturers in different countries are working to make them safe enough for real-world use. We're joined byLarry Burns to discuss his knowledge as an educator and consultant in the world of autonomous vehicles. He is a retired senior vice president of research and development, and strategic planning atGeneral Motors. Since retiring in 2009, he has consulted for Google’s self-driving car project calledWaymo, and he's author of a new book called“Autonomy: The Quest to Build the Driverless Car - And How It Will Reshape Our World.”

Julie Glenn is the host of Gulf Coast Live. She has been working in southwest Florida as a freelance writer since 2007, most recently as a regular columnist for the Naples Daily News. She began her broadcasting career in 1993 as a reporter/anchor/producer for a local CBS affiliate in Quincy, Illinois. After also working for the NBC affiliate, she decided to move to Parma, Italy where she earned her Master’s degree in communication from the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication is from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
