The local, state and federal governments are looking to do business with more women, minorities and veterans.

Several agencies are hoping to meet with business owners on Tuesday at the University of North Florida.

Friday, March 18, is the last day to register for the free event.

Consultants, marketers, and people in the construction, medical and air conditioning businesses are among the types of business owners the government reps are hoping to meet. They suggest, ahead of time, business owners should prepare their pitches, gather their business cards and marketing materials and get ready to talk about their services.

Hue Reynolds heads the state Office of Supplier Diversity.

“The more that they diversify their spending with small businesses of that nature, the better it is for the overall economy,” she says.

The day-long event at UNF will start with networking and training sessions for minority business owners and end with one-on-one appointments with government reps. Registration closes Friday.
