Jacksonville officials are urging Jaguars fans to show their support during Thursday’s nationally televised game against the Houston Texans.

Mayor Alvin Brown was joined by executives from Jaxport, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, JEA, the Jacksonville Airport Authority and Downtown Investment Authority on Monday urging residents to rally around the team.

"It showcases our talent for the team, it showcases our city," he said of the national TV appearance.

"We want to be an international city. It's a great city not just with football but a great place to live, work and raise a family."

After a 0-8 start, the Jags have won three of their last four games including a 32-28 victory Sunday in Cleveland.

This week’s contest against the Houston Texans will air on the NFL Network with kick-off scheduled for 8:25 p.m. A tailgate party will be held prior to the game in the parking lot of Everbank Field.
