Jacksonville Judge Tells Russell Tillis To Be Quiet As Murder Trial Begins

Russell Tillis charged with the first-degree murder of 30-year-old Joni Gunter.

The long-delayed trial of Russell Tillis charged with kidnapping, first-degree murder and abuse of a body in the death of 30-year-old Joni Gunter began Wednesday with explosive evidence and comments from the defendant.

As the proceedings began, WJCT News partner News4Jax reported Tillis began reading a prepared statement, but he was cut off by Judge Mark Borello, who asked that the statement be submitted in writing and for Tillis to be quiet as the jury was waiting to be brought in. Tillis replied, “The jury can wait.”
