The city is organized and ready for Tropical Storm Colin, said Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry after meeting with city emergency employees Monday afternoon.
Colin is expected to move across Northeast Florida Monday evening. Jacksonville Electric Authority CEO Paul McElroy said power outages are to be expected, but he has an eight extra crews on hand in case of emergency.
“Bare with us,” he said. “We’ve got to let the winds die down to below 30 mph before our folks can get back up safely onto the poles and restore. What we’ve done is we’ve gotten everybody prepositioned.
"We’re ready to go. At this point in time we’re giving the crews some rest. They’re going to come in early tomorrow. At first crack of dawn we’re going to be out there restoring power.”

Bridges were open as of 5 p.m. Monday, but if the winds become too high, they’ll be closed. Curry is also reminding anyone who comes across a traffic light that’s out to treat it as a four-way stop.
