Jacksonville Public Library Launches New App

Jacksonville Public Library

TheJacksonville Public Library has launched a new free app that can be used to renew a book, place one on hold or download an e-book.

TheJaxLibrary app was funded through a donation by the Friends of the Jacksonville Library. It can also be used  to check out upcoming events at an area library including programs for children, and computer literacy programs for adults.

The app also includes a feature called BookLook that allow users to scan the ISBN or barcode from a book jacket to find out if the book is available at the library and place a hold on it.

The app was developed by a company called Boopsie Inc. It has developed similar apps for about 2500 public and academic libraries.
