The Jaxson: Changing The Urban Landscape In 2021

rendering of the development
The Jaxson
The Ashley Square affordable housing development is one of the projects moving forward this year.

The amount of foot traffic in Downtown Jacksonville fell to an all-time low last year, as the pandemic slowed the growth of downtowns across the country.

Now, the Jaxson’s Ennis Davis asks, will 2021 be the year of the comeback for our downtown?

(Spoiler: He’s not too concerned about Downtown’s future, even with the demise of the Lot J mega-development this week in City Council. In fact, he has 15 reasons not to be.)

Davis told WJCT News Director Jessica Palombo about some of the big projects and trends that give him hope, in this week's The Jaxson on WJCT segment.

If you’d like to learn a ton about Downtown Jacksonville’s past  — and future  — join Ennis Davis and the Jaxson for a walking tour of the Northbank, next Saturday, Jan. 23. Details and tickets are on the WJCT Events page
