The Jaxson: Jacksonville Black Restaurant Week Starts Nov. 27

Nov 19, 2020

With an extensive and rich Gullah Geechee heritage, Jacksonville’s Black culinary roots run deep.

As The Jaxson’s Ennis Davis tells us, our city’s Black-owned restaurants are a must-taste experience. Foodies can raise their forks to events showcasing African-American, African and Caribbean cuisine as Black Restaurant Week kicks off in Jacksonville for the first time, starting with the Eastside’s Melanin Market on Friday, Nov. 27.

In this week’s Jaxson on WJCT segment, we also heard from Kristopher Smith with LISC Jacksonville on what his organization is doing to support Black-owned restaurants and other businesses struggling under the weight of the pandemic.

A comprehensive list of Black-owned restaurants in Jacksonville is on The Jaxson.
