A Lake City Nurse Practitioner has been arrested for solicitation of a minor. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says Matthew Melvin has been booked into the Columbia County Jail.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says Melvin worked as an advanced practice registered nurse at a Lake City clinic. The Department began investigating him on May 9TH after it received allegations Melvin sexually assaulted a male patient, who is a minor. Investigators say he touched the child and began sending sexual messages to the victim via Snapchat.

An undercover agent posing as the boy began communicating with Melvin who then sent sexualized photos of himself and tried to arrange a meeting.

The Department says additional charges are pending again Matthew Melvin. His bail has been set at $500,000.
