The man killed in a shootout with St. Johns County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday has been identified as 38-year-old Joshua Noles of Volusia County.

The St. Johns Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating the incident.

They said deputies first began pursuing Noles when he was allegedly driving recklessly in the area of A1A South and State Road 206.

A pursuit onto State Road 207 involved the man intentionally driving into oncoming traffic and ramming a police cruiser.

The shootout began on private property after Noles crashed into an abandoned bus and allegedly began firing at three deputies. All three have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
