Golf fans who would have been watching the Masters in Augusta, Ga. on TV this week will have to wait until November.
Other upcoming tournaments are also being rescheduled.
The PGA Championship in San Francisco has been moved to August, while the U.S. Open is set for mid-September, or at least that’s the plan right now.
WJCT sports analyst Cole Pepper said Tuesday fans shouldn’t count on anything yet.
“I think you’re going to see a lot of these dates come under some scrutiny, particularly the early ones — like August for the PGA Championship. They’d like to get them in but like everything right now, it’s a pretty fluid situation because we just don’t know how long this pandemic’s going to hang on.”
The British Open will skip 2020 completely, marking the first time that tournament’s been cancelled since World War II.
Here on the First Coast, The PLAYERS Championship was among the first major golfing events to be cancelled last month.
