Jacksonville Chief Financial Officer Mike Weinstein has been appointed as Interim Executive Director of the new Kids Hope Alliance by Mayor Lenny Curry.
Weinstein will oversee the establishment of the newly-reformed organization while continuing in his current role, according to a news release from the mayor’s office.
“Mike is an incredible change agent respected and trusted throughout our city and state,” said Curry.
Weinstein has a lengthy resume in Jacksonville’s political circles. He was Chief of Staff and CFO for Mayors Ed Austin and John Delaney and helped negotiate for the football stadium that led to the city’s successful NFL franchise bid, according to Curry’s office.
Previously Weinstein was President of Take Stock in Children, and Executive Director of Volunteers in Medicine.
The Kids Hope Alliance is a culmination of Curry’s plan to consolidate the city’s two major child-welfare programs and focus on those most in need.
The Kids Hope Alliance is the result of merging the crime-fighting program Jax Journey and child-welfare entity the Jacksonville Children’s Commission.
