Southern Restaurants For Racial Justice Fundraiser

Local restaurants are supporting racial justice with a fundraiser happening Saturday, August 29.

At least 19 area restaurants including Taverna, 1748 Bakehouse, House of Leaf and Bean, Congaree and Penn, Black Sheep Group, Community Loaves, and Vagabond Coffee are participating as part of a coalition of bakers, chefs, makers and restaurant owners who have joined together to work to benefit Black communities in the South.

The coalition is called Southern Restaurants for Racial Justice. Ten percent of Saturday's sales will go to the Lee Initiative, a relief fund to support Black-owned restaurants in the South affected by the pandemic.

Mariah Salvat of Southern Roots Filling Station joined us with a preview.
