St. Johns County residents can hear next month thelatest information about the proposal to extend State Route - 9B from I-95 to the St. Johns Parkway.
The first two legs of 9B will run from I-295 to I-95 in Duval County.
According to Florida Department of Transportation (F-DOT) reports, there has been a need for a limited access highway in the area since the mid-70’s.
F-DOT’s James Bennett says it’s premature to worry about a lack of funding for the project. He says much more work needs to be done before a price tag can be placed on the construction.
The public information workshop on the State Route 9B extension will be held April 9th at the Courtyard by Marriott on Old St. Augustine Road in Jacksonville.
A workshop open house will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 followed by a public comment period.
The first leg of 9B from 295 to Phillips is expected to open later this year.
