Jacksonville University has a high-profile speaker slated to speak at this spring’s commencement. Republican 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney will give the address.
Former Massachusetts governor and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will not only speak but he’ll also receive an honorary degree from Jacksonville University at the April ceremony, according to a JU news release.
Romney has a broad business background, including founding investment company Bain Capital in 1984. As Massachusetts governor, Romney passed landmark health care legislation. Time magazine named him one of the most influential people in the world in 2012.
Romney joins a list of distinguished people who have spoken at Jacksonville University. They include former President Gerald Ford, Gen. Colin Powell, former presidential candidate Ross Perot and anthropologist Margaret Mead.
The commencement is April 25.
