The group opposes a bill that would expand the Armed Guardian program to include more teachers. They also want background checks for all gun purchases, including private and online transactions.

Kate Kile is the leader of the Tallahassee branch of Moms Demand Action. She says that cooperation with state officials is a primary step in achieving the organization’s goals.

“We really want to build relationships with our lawmakers,” Kile said. “We want them to know this is an issue that we are passionate about. We are determined to pass common sense gun safety legislation that will keep our families and our communities safe. We know that this is a bipartisan issue. This is really not about Republicans and Democrats.”

The group is rallying at the Capitol for its third annual Advocacy Day. Moms Demand Action has branches in every state in the U.S.
