A record number of Americans are expected to hit the highways and the skyways this July Fourth.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) predicts more than two million Floridians will head out on a road trip over the holiday that goes from Tuesday, July 3 to Sunday, July 8.

Spokesman Mark Jenkins said it doesn’t matter much that gas costs around $2.70 a gallon when the economy is on the upswing.

“Ultimately it’s not something that would normally deter people from travelling. But the fact that gas prices are getting more affordable—that means that people who are making a last minute decision are more prone to take a trip.”

The heaviest travel day is expected to be Tuesday, July 3.

AAA is advising motorists to avoid hitting large metropolitan areas like Atlanta, Houston and New York during afternoon rush hour,  which is typically between 3 and 7 p.m.
