Initially planning to open in August, Downtown vegan cafe and bakery Grenville Kitchen is slated to open by the first week of November.
A week before the restaurant’s final inspection in August, owner Jenielle Frith suffered serious injuries in a car accident and was hospitalized for more than a month, she told WJCT News partner the Jacksonville Daily Record.
Her phone was lost in the accident, and so were her vendor contacts, further complicating the anticipated Aug. 5 opening.
After a city inspection, Frith said the cafe and bakery at 311 W. Ashley St. will be ready to open.
“Of course you can’t foresee an accident, an accident can happen at anytime,” she said.
