Northeast Florida Construction Companies Fined For Safety Violations

KB Home logo

Three Northeast Florida home construction companies and a national home builder are facing fines from the federal government, which accuses the businesses of safety violations that expose workers to possible falls up to 18 feet.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration is looking to levy just under $145,000 in fines because inspectors found workers at a job site were not wearing fall-protection gear.

At the Abby Glen subdivision off Sunbeam Road, local companies John Whigham Sheeting, Ezzo Construction and S.A. Robinson Construction were doing for the national KB Home company. John Whigham faces a willful violation, and Ezzo and S. A. Robinson were issued repeat citations.

The companies have about two weeks to decide if they’ll fight the citations.
