Number Of Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Surpasses 400 In Duval, 12K Statewide

In its Sunday morning update, the Florida Department of Health said 606 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, bringing the state total up to 12,151. Duval County  has 414 confirmed cases.

Florida’s testing has increased over the past week, peaking at 13,803 tests conducted on Thursday, April 2.

The percentage of positive results from these tests has ranged from 7% to 14% over the past two weeks. Jacksonville Mayor Curry tweeted over the weekend that just 5% of the tests performed in Duval County were coming back positive. It can take more than a week to receive results.

Eleven percent of the 11,779 tests conducted across the state on Saturday yielded positive results.

So far, 113,451 tests have been conducted across the state. 12,151 people have tested positive, 101,253 tested negative, 47 tests were inconclusive, and 1,129 are still awaiting results.

In Duval County 7,140 people have been tested and 6,726 have tested negative. 414 people have tested positive and 134 are still awaiting their test results.

Of the state’s confirmed cases, 1,490 people have been hospitalized and 218 people have died. Of those who have died, 85% were 65 or older.
