A new business accelerator and apprenticeship program was announced last week. The KYN program (pronounced "kin") is an offshoot of Jacksonville’s successful One Spark Festival.

Four of the business creators from this year’s festival will be going through the KYN program, which is funded by Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s STACHE Investment Fund.

WJCT’s Michelle Corum spoke last week with Elton Rivas, co-founder of KYN and One Spark.

KYN will soon begin selecting applications for their second 16 week class, set to begin in January. Information relating to the application timing and process can be found on their website, kyn.is.

Michelle Corum joined WJCT as "Morning Edition" host in 2012 and has worked in public broadcasting as an announcer and reporter for public radio stations in Lawrence, Kansas, and Interlochen, Michigan. She also manages WJCT's Radio Reading Service for sight-impaired listeners.
