Open House Will Explain Gate, Southside Intersection Road Construction Project

Florida Department of Transportation

The Florida Department of Transportation will share its plans to reduce traffic congestion on Southside Boulevard at Gate Parkway at a public open house on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The proposed changes include adding a new intersection and turn lanes and tweaking the timing of existing traffic signals.

“We’ll be having an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. where residents and citizens can come take a look at the plans, ask the project team questions. And then at 6 o’clock we’ll have a short presentation and then people will have an opportunity to provide feedback,” said FDOT spokeswoman Sara Pleasants.

The Southside Boulevard project is expected to start in the spring of 2021 and wrap up in the summer of 2022, according to Pleasants.

The open house is set for this Thursday at the Southeast Regional Library at 10599 Deerwood Park Boulevard.
