When you think of The Players Championship Tournament, the first words that come to mind might be green, birdie or bunker, not the design of the course as it relates to tourism, the media, and the cultural identity of the First Coast.

James Beasley is an assistant professor of English at the University of North Florida and the author of  "The Spectator, the Spectacle, and the Spectral at the Stadium Course at the TPC." The article will be published later this year in a book about places and spaces that are unique to Florida.

WJCT’s Patrick Donges spoke with Beasley, who explained how the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass embodies the idea of “New Tourism.”

Beasley's article is part of a collection titled Florida set to be published later this year by Parlor Press.
