Original Metro Diner Has Reopened Following Car Crash

A Toyota Camry slammed into the side of the Metro Diner on Hendricks Ave.

Jacksonville’s original Metro Diner in San Marco is back in business, just in time for Easter.

The diner, which was the first in the chain to open, has been closed for repairs since April 8 when a car crashed into the Hendricks Avenue eatery.  No one was inside the restaurant at the time.

The Metro Diner team, led by Managing Partner, Ed Lenhart, credits an outpouring of support from the City of Jacksonville, the Davoli Family, the restaurants founders, construction partner Bill Holmes with TWT Construction and the Jacksonville community for getting the diner back into full operation in time to serve guests for Easter weekend.

“The city and community have been extremely supportive and accommodating in the efforts to get the diner back open as soon as possible,” said Mark Davoli, who founded Metro Diner in Jacksonville.

“Easter weekend has always been an important time for Metro Diner where we have served families and friends for decades. It was imperative to us to continue that tradition for our loyal guests and dedicated Team Members,” he said in an email to WJCT News.

Starting Saturday, April 20, the diner will be open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
