The Palm Beach County school district is encouraging students to do one act of kindness every day leading up to the first anniversary of the school shooting in nearby Parkland.

The district provided a list of suggestions for 17 acts of kindness participants can do — one for each of the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting — starting today through Feb. 14.
"DAY 1: Send a card or note of support to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School or tag them on social media with an uplifting message,” the school district tweeted on Tuesday.
The district wants people to share their acts of kindness on social media with the hashtags #17ActsOfKindness and #StrongerTogether.
The librarian for Wellington High School tweeted a photo of a student hanging a photo of shooting victim Carmen Schentrup. It’s in a line of other photos of victims, each with a maroon ribbon, which is one of Stoneman Douglas’ school colors.
"Their beautiful faces will remind us not to take life for granted, and to honor them with with our action,” the librarian, Suzette Calderon, wrote on Twitter.
High schools throughout Palm Beach County are also planting trees in memory of the victims.
