A 24-year-old Jacksonville man faces a possible 20 years in federal prison and a lifetime of supervision for allegedly downloading and distributing videos of child sex abuse.

Authorities said they executed a federal search warrant at Pryce Demars’ Jacksonville residence last week in connection with a child-exploitation investigation into online users of a specific file-sharing program.

Demars, they say, admitted to searching the internet for child pornography, downloading it and exchanging the images for things like video games.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office helped with the FBI investigation.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood. The nationwide initiative is an effort to find, arrest and prosecute people who sexually exploit children as well as identify and rescue victims.

Demars trial is scheduled for January 2.
