Meridian Waste Florida will begin residential solid waste and recycling collection for the City of Jacksonville on Oct. 1. To get ready, Meridian is hosting a job fair this Saturday, Aug. 21.
Open positions that require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) are for residential, front-end loader, or roll-off drivers. Other open positions include collection helpers, mechanics, dispatchers, customer care representatives, sales team members and more.

Interviews at the job fair can be scheduled in advance. Applications and resumes will also be kept on file for future positions as they become available.

Meridian Waste offers residential and commercial trash collection and waste disposal services in Jacksonville, Nassau County, and surrounding areas.
Jacksonville’s Solid Waste Division also uses Advanced Disposal Services, Republic Services and Waste Pro USA for its waste collection services, according to the city’s website.
The city’s Department of Public Works has been dealing with a rash of customer complaints related to yard waste over the past six months, with nearly 20,000 received by mid-July.
City officials told WJCT News last month the delays were being caused by labor shortages.
