A 30-year-old St. Augustine man is being held in Pinellas County after being arrested for allegedly burglarizing the home of pop star Taylor Swift’s dad’s home in January.
Terrence Hoover called police himself to report that he had interacted with the homeowner in a St. Petersburg penthouse condo on Jan. 17, according to Pinellas Court records. He was then arrested last week.
The Tampa Bay Times reported Monday that it confirmed Scott Swift’s identity as the property owner through property records.
According to prosecutors, Hoover was able to access the condo through an unsecured emergency stairwell. The building's elevator required a key card for residents who entered through the usual entrance.
The documents say “a struggle ensued” between Hoover and the homeowner before Hoover got away on foot.
