St. Augustine Renaming Bravo Way In Honor Of Carrie Johnson

Feb 17, 2021

The City of St. Augustine is changing the name of Bravo Street in honor of the woman known affectionately as “The Voice of Lincolnville.” Carrie Johnson died in 2018.

Johnson is perhaps best remembered for her “Hi, Darling” greeting as she rode the streets on her adult-sized tricycle.

For more than 20 years, “Miss Carrie” - as she was known - helped organize carolers to visit the city’s nursing homes.

A 2015 article in The St. Augustine Record also credited her with founding “Miss Carrie’s Foundation for Homeless Students,” to provide resources for young and vulnerable residents.   The St. Augustine City Commission passed an ordinance last year to rename Bravo Street as Carrie Johnson Way.

The community is invited to join the socially-distanced unveiling ceremony Saturday, February 20, at noon at the corner of Bravo and Weeden Street in Lincolnville.
