Family physicians are often the first line of health care providers that patients turn to when they present with COVID-19 symptoms.

Jacksonville’s Human Rights Ordinance
On Friday, an Appeals Court struck down Jacksonville’s Human Rights Ordinance (HRO), because even though it was updated three years ago, they said the legislation was apparently not written properly.
The updated HRO was passed into law back in 2017, after a long battle. The updated ordinance added LGBTQ residents as protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Jacksonville attorney Jimmy Midyette was the legislative director of the Jacksonville Coalition for Equality at that time and helped write the ordinance, and is now running for Duval County Clerk of Courts. He shared his thoughts with us, as did Jon Harris Maurer, Public Policy Director of Equality Florida.
