Sumatran Tiger Cubs Go On Display At Jacksonville's Zoo

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
Jaggar and Rocky are pictured in January during their six week exam.

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is inviting the public to come out Saturday to meet Rocky and Jaggar in person for the first time.

The two Sumatran Tiger cubs spent the first 11 weeks of their lives in the zoo’s nursing den with their mom, Dorcas.

Zoo keepers said the little cats packed on the weight during that time, going from 4.5 pounds apiece at birth to more than 20 pounds today.

Rocky and Jaggar make their debut at 9:30 Saturday morning. Sumatran Tigers are considered a critically-endangered species.

There are believed to be fewer than 400 of the big cats living in the wild on the island of Sumatra.
