Tallahassee To Purchase Northwood Centre For $6.8 Million

The City of Tallahassee is finalizing a deal to purchase the Northwood Centre for $6.8 million.

City commissioners placed the winning bid Wednesday in an auction for the dilapidated shopping mall.

The price more than doubled on the last day of bidding, closing out Tuesday at just $3 million.

Mayor John Dailey floated the idea of purchasing the nearly 35-acre property during last week’s city council meeting.

Tallahassee has been struggling to find a home for its new public safety complex in recent years. But Dailey says the property could also be used for affordable housing or municipal services.
