The University of Florida has moved up while Florida State University drops down in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of public universities released Monday.
UF moved up from seventh to sixth place this year to tie with the University of California-Santa Barbara.
Florida State is tied with three other public universities for 19th place, after being ranked 18th last year.
The top 5 public universities in the country, according to U-S News & World Report are:
- University of California-Los Angeles
- University of California-Berkeley
- University of Michigan
- University of Virginia
- University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
The University of North Florida ranked 272 among national nniversities.
Flagler College in St. Augustine ranked fourth among southern regional colleges, while Jacksonville University was ranked 29th in the same category. Edward Waters College was placed in the lower end of the category, in a wider 70th-91st rank.
