The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding a meeting Wednesday to gather public input on solving Flagler Beach’s erosion problems.Erosion on the beach is threatening oceanfront infrastructure and State Road A1A.

The plan calls for adding ten feet of sand to the dunes along with another ten feet of sand to the beach itself. The sand would be dredged from offshore.

Army Corps of Engineers spokesperson Susan Jackson said erosion has been a major problem on the stretch of Flagler Beach.

"The people who live on the beach understand this explicitly," she said. "The erosion is a huge problem and that's what we want to talk about we want to hear from the public about our plan and the study itself so following our presentation we going to open it up to the floor and anybody who wants to speak can speak at that time or ask questions at that time."

The meeting starts at 6p.m. at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center in Bunnell.

The first half-hour will consist of a presentation by Army Corps officials of their plans.

The public can also leave comments via e-mail or mail to the Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville office.

The meeting will also be broadcast on the Flagler County Government website.

The public comment period will be open through Feb. 17.
