USF Presidential Search Moves To Next Stage

Friday was the deadline for people to submit their applications to become the next president of the University of South Florida.

As of Sunday night, 33 names were listedon the USF Presidential Search Committee website

There are no internal candidates to succeed Judy Genshaft, but a number of current and former presidents, deans and provosts from American and international colleges and universities have applied:

Joyce McConnell, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs of West Virginia University, had appeared on earlier lists, but is not on the latest roster.

What's Next?

By the end of next week, USF should have a new president. All of the meetings will be open to the public.

Monday - The 15-member USF Presidential Search Committeewill review applicants and narrow down the pool to at least three finalists starting at 8 a.m. on the Tampa campus. That meeting will be available via Webcast.

Wednesday - The finalists will be interviewed by the search committee starting at 9 a.m. on the Tampa campus. While the interviews won't be available via Webcast, there will be locationson all three campuses where people can watch them live.

Thursday - The finalists will visit the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee campuses and take part in a public conversation with a member of the search committee. Locations of those conversations can be found here. These conversations will not be available via Webcast or remote viewing.

Friday - The finalists will be interviewed by the USF Board of Trustees starting at 8 a.m. on the Tampa campus. The interviews won't be available via Webcast, but the public will be able to view them at the same campus locations as Wednesday.

The Trustees will then vote on the new president at a board meeting at the conclusion of the interviews. That meeting will be available via Webcast.

The State University System Board of Governors will have to approve the Trustees' choice.

Genshaft will step down effective July 1, ending a nineteen-year tenure at USF.
