Comedian Rob Schneider of “The Hot Chick” and “50 First Dates” will perform Friday and Saturday at the Comedy Zone, 3130 Hartley Road. Relax and enjoy a few good laughs after the long work week with the Emmy-nominated actor. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Ticket prices start at $30 each. The “Overnight Escape” package is on sale for $112.50 a person and includes a ticket to the show, dinner at Gigi’s and a one night stay at Ramada Mandarin.

Rethreaded Turns 5!

 

Celebrate Rethreaded, a non-profit organization re-sewing the lives of victims of the sex trade, and its fifth anniversary this Saturday at the Rethreaded Warehouse. The family and pet-friendly event is being held to give thanks to the community for its contribution to warehouse renovations. Enjoy live music by Canary in the Coalmine and Tom & Natalie accompanied by What’s Smokin’ BBQ and cold hard cider by Engine 15 Brewing Company. It all begins at 10 a.m. at 820 Barnett Street.

Stand By Me at the Florida Theatre

The Summer Movie Classics Series is coming to an end, but not before a few more memorable films. Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of "Stand By Me," the journey of four, young Oregon boys in search of a dead body. The screening is at the Florida Theatre, 128 East Forsyth Street. The movie starts at 2 p.m. Sunday and tickets are $7.50 a person.

Come enjoy the music of BayStreet Band during Jacksonville Landing’s free Friday concert. BayStreet plays R&B, rock, soul, jazz, jam and pop, and were named Jacksonville’s favorite band three times. They have also been given the key to the city for their charity work. Swing by the Coca-Cola Riverfront Stage from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. to enjoy their music.

Touch-A-Truck at the Jacksonville Automotive & Motorcycle Museum

Keep your kids’ excitement up as summer break winds down at Saturday’s Touch-A-Truck at the Jacksonville Automotive & Motorcycle Museum. Trucks from the Jacksonville Sheriff Office, Jacksonville Fire & Rescue, ASAP Towing and more will be in the parking lot so that kids can play and learn about what the different trucks do. The event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is free and the museum will also be open to the public.
