Mega Pet Adoptions

 

 

Calling all pet lovers: Come meet your new, furry best friend this weekend at the Mega Pet Adoption sponsored by the Petco Foundation. The event begins Friday at 10 a.m. and run through Sunday. It will be held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds, 510 Fairgrounds Place. All adoptions will be $20 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, and the required city license for Jacksonville residents. In honor of our nation’s armed forces, adoptions for active and retired military are free. Admission and parking are both free, so bring the family and give a forever home to an animal in need.

A Pop Musical

The Limelight Theatre presents, “Emma: A Pop Musical," which is based on Jane Austen’s classic novel “Emma”. Kids ranging from grades 7-12 come together to perform hit classics like “Turn the Beat Around” and “Be my Baby." There will also be more recent hits like Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Natash Bedingfield’s “Unwritten.” Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online or by phone (904) 825-1164. Prices start at $20 for students and military; $24 for seniors ages 62 and older; and $26 for adults. Come watch this classic tale told through the sounds of the oldies and modern hits.

$5 Fridays at MOSH

Guests enjoy $5 admission and extended hours exclusively on Fridays. Museum of Science & History remains open every Friday until 8 p.m., so you can get your science and history on after a long week at the office. Check out Darwin & Dinosaurs, at MOSH for a limited time, and the newest permanent exhibit Health in Motion. MOSH’s doors, found at 1025 Museum Circle, opens at 10 a.m. every Friday morning.

Trad’s Farmers Market

Every other Saturday, Trad’s Garden Center hosts their farmer’s market where you can find fruits and vegetables, baked goods, even arts and crafts. Each vendor will bring something unique to their table, so come out to see what something special you’ll find. The farmer’s market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trad’s Garden Center, 8178 San Jose Blvd.

 

 

Summer Movie Classics Series: Hook

The Stephen Spielberg classic, "Hook," will be take you away to Neverland this Sunday. The battle between Captain Hook and Peter Pan begins at 2 p.m. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hook at the Florida Theatre, 128 East Forsyth Street. Tickets are $7.50.
