A satirical romp celebrating the friendship of two Oscar winners—Matt Damon and Ben Affleck—is on stage in Jacksonville this week.

The new local production of the play Matt & Ben has a twist, the lead roles are played by women, and one of them works at WJCT.

"I really enjoy getting into the part," says WJCT producer Abigail Saenz, who takes on the role of Ben Affleck in production by The 5 & Dime theatre company. "It's really a story about friendship."

In the show, the audience meets struggling young performers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, long-time friends on the brink of fame.

When the screenplay for Good Will Hunting (for which they won an Oscar) mysteriously drops from the sky, they take it as a test from God.

"And the story goes from there," said Director Juan Carlos Unzueta. "You'll have to come see the play to find out more!"

Matt & Ben was written by Brenda Withers and actress/producer Mindy Kaling of The Office and The Mindy Project.

The play is this weekend at The Pangea Live in downtown Jacksonville with shows March 7 and 8.
