Come November, Wyman Duggan will be facing off against Democrat Tracye Polson in the race to become District 15’s next State Representative after he came out on top against his Republican opponents in Tuesday night’s primary election.

“I want to thank all of you in this room for doing the hard work on behalf of great Republican candidates in this county and in this region, including my two opponents in this race, Joseph Hogan and Mark Ziegler,” Hogan said to a cheering crowd on Tuesday night. “I want to give a shoutout to them and their supporters and all their hard work. They’re good men. We had a hard fought campaign.”

With all precincts reporting and 14,157 votes cast in the race, the Duval County Supervisor of Elections’ unofficial results showed that Duggan ended the night with 40.47 percent of the vote (5,730 votes). Joseph Hogan, Supervisor of Elections Mike Hogan’s son, ended the night at 32.34 percent (4,578 votes), while Mark Ziegler came in with 27.19 percent (3,849 votes).

Duggan said, now that this phase of the campaign is over, he’s looking forward to talking about his agenda. Which, in his words, includes “workforce development, economic growth and development, safe streets, and a culture of opportunity for House District 15.”

“We have a little slice of heaven here in Northeast Florida,” said Duggan. “And we have a tremendous opportunity looking forward into the future. I expect the campaign will be about those issues.”

Duggan, who describes himself as a fifth-generation Floridian, has a law degree from the College of William and Mary and is a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School. He formerly served as the Chair of Jacksonville’s Charter Revision Commission.

He’s been endorsed by several prominent local conservatives, including Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, Congressman John Rutherford, State Senator Aaron Bean, State Rep. Jason Fischer, and City Councilman Jim Love, among others.

“I look forward to moving on from here to the next phase of the campaign with the support of the entire party,” Duggan said. “We have a great opportunity for the next phase. I look forward to working with all of you to help make that a reality.”
