Medicaid cancellations; election worker abuse; solar tax credits; music history

File

There's a creeping health emergency in Florida. More than 1 million people could lose their Medicaid coverage this year.

States were not allowed to kick people off Medicaid during the pandemic — even if they no longer qualified for it. But that is no longer the case.

So, what’s the state of this as we move into May? And if you lost your insurance coverage, what other options do you have?

We welcomed Stephanie Colombini of Health News Florida to discuss the issue.

Election worker abuse

The Brennan Center recently released a new poll of local election officials, finding that 73% think the federal government could be doing more to support them in their role. The survey also showed that 30% have been abused, harassed or threatened because of their job as a local election official.

The Brennan Center’s election security experts have laid out four main priorities for local, state, and federal officials and the steps they must take before the 2024 elections to keep them safe, secure, and accurate.

For more, we spoke with Derek Tisler, counsel in the Brennan Center’s Elections and Government Program.

Solar tax credits

If you’ve been thinking about taking advantage of that 30% federal tax credit for solar installations, but still have — we have some answers.

With an update on all the latest in the industry, we welcomed Pete Wilking, principal at A1A Solar, and Ellen Castle from Business Development.

Music history

And just ahead, we’ll take a listen to our brand new show, "This Week in Music History."
