Duval jail deaths; Community Foundation leadership; former Sheriff Nat Glover

The number of deaths at the Duval County jail has been rising. Since 2022, 11 people have died within 16 days of their arrests. The National Commission on Correctional Health Care has criticized the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for a slow and “minimal” evaluation process.

Nichole Manna, an investigative reporter at The Tributary, has been following the story and joins us with more details.

The Community Foundation of Northeast Florida has been a luminary in Jacksonville philanthropy since 1964. The foundation works to connect artists and nonprofits to charitable funding. After 22 years, Nina Waters, the foundation's president, is handing the title to Isaiah Oliver. They have more on what the future holds.

Nat Glover, the beloved Jacksonville sheriff who served 1995 to 2003, has a memoir hitting the shelves this month. Striving for Justice: A Black Sheriff in the Deep South explores his life as a Black person growing up in the segregated South and his unwavering commitment to justice.
