The Orlando Freefall will be dismantled.

The Orlando thrill ride where a 14-year-old boy fell to his death earlier this year is being taken down, according to a statement from the attraction’s operator.

WKMG-TV, a sister station to WJCT News partner News4JAX, sister station WKMG-TV reported Thursday the Slingshot Group released a statement on its plans after the death of Tyre Sampson.

“We are devastated by Tyre’s death," the statement said. "We have listened to the wishes of Tyre’s family and the community, and have made the decision to take down the FreeFall. In addition, Orlando Slingshot will honor Tyre and his legacy in the classroom and on the football field by creating a scholarship in his name.”
