For many, April 1 means the rent is due. But with record-setting jobless claims in Florida due to COVID-19, paying the rent this month – and the next few - may not be an option for some.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott says he’ll be watching Tuesday’s Republican debate on CNN.

On Monday in Jacksonville, the Republican governor said the GOP candidates should focus on four key areas: job creation, balancing the federal budget, regulation reduction and ISIS.

 

Republican presidential candidates Ben Carson and Donald Trump are drawing criticism for recent comments they have made about Muslims. This comes after an incident in Texas when a 14-year-old student named Ahmed Mohammed was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school that teachers mistakenly thought might be a bomb. We discuss what some are calling anti-Muslim sentiment in this country with Dr. Parvez Ahmed, UNF professor and frequent commentator on the Muslim experience in America.

After the second Republican presidential debate, the Duval County GOP is lacking consensus on who should win the party’s nomination for president.

Almost all of the major candidates had supporters in a San Marco bar Thursday night, where the local GOP gathered to watch the candidates battle for the spotlight.
