American Airlines will soon offer non-stop flights from Jacksonville to Austin, Texas.

JetBlue To Offer Nonstop Service From JAX To Laguardia

JetBlue Airways will begin offering nonstop flights from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) to New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) starting this October, the airline announced Wednesday.

The Jacksonville International Airport is preparing for an expected influx of travelers as the holiday season approaches, although numbers are still expected to be significantly lower than years prior.

Travelers who book an Uber or Lyft to pick them up from the Jacksonville Airport will soon have to pay a fee.

Today is the first flight on a new route from Jacksonville International Airport to Pittsburgh. The twice-weekly flight is one of two new offerings from Allegiant Air. Its other one goes to Cincinnati.

Jacksonville Aviation Authority spokesman Michael Stewart says the new flights reflect the highest level of passenger traffic the airport has seen since 2007.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released the arrest records of the two men charged during the evacuation of Jacksonville International Airport last night. 

Zeljko Causevic is charged with making a false threat and possession of a hoax bomb. Manuel Rivera was charged with resisting arrest. Rivera's charge is not believed to be related to the threat made by Causevic.

A Jacksonville native who was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor was honored in a ceremony Friday morning.

Local officials and descendants of James Edwin Craig dedicated a pavilion at the airport which bears his name, Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport.

Craig was killed while securing his ship, the U.S.S. Pennsylvania.

His daughter, Anne Craig Beere, thanked the airport for the honor, and remembered her experiences of the day her father was killed.

Local officials joined Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) administrators Monday to break ground on a new 150,000 square foot hangar for Flightstar Aircraft Services at Cecil Airport.

When completed next year it will be the largest facility built by the Authority at Cecil.
