A new law enforcement initiative that launched today in Duval and a dozen other northeast Florida counties gives the public a bigger role in the fight against terrorism.

The iWatch initiative counts on people to be observant and to report anything that doesn’t look, smell or sound right.

Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford, who co-chairs the 13 county Regional Domestic Security Task Force, says the information gathering program lets authorities get out ahead of the danger.

Local officials gathered with families of Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officers who have died in the line of duty for Police Memorial Day today.

The memorial is held every year to honor the fallen. 60 officers have lost their lives on duty in Jacksonville history.

Due to rainy weather, the public ceremony, usually held on Bay Street in front of the Police Memorial Building, was moved inside.

The JSO Honor Guard performed a 21-gun salute. Sheriff John Rutherford and Fraternal Order of Police President Steve Amos placed a memorial wreath in remembrance.

The Florida Times-Union is reporting that the two adults living in the house where 13-year-old Titania Williams Mitchell was shot have been charged with negligence.

With all of the expensive cars and luxurious jewelry lined up, it looked like an episode of MTV Cribs, but it was more like an episode of Cops.

Today, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office held an auction selling at least 30 vehicles and thousands of dollars in jewelry that was once owned by convicted felons.

The Sheriff’s Office has several car and jewelry auctions each year to raise money for various programs and investigations the Sheriff’s Office are working on.
